Paper Plate Bee Craft for the Letter B
Since one of the free worksheets features “B is for bee,” a paper plate bee makes a fun hands-on activity to continue the theme.
A simple paper plate bee uses familiar craft materials and gives children opportunities to paint, cut, glue, and assemble different pieces. Paper plate bee activities are commonly made using yellow paint, black paper or paint, paper wings, and simple facial features.
Paper Plate Bee Craft Supplies
You’ll need a plain white paper plate, yellow washable paint, a paintbrush, black construction paper, light blue or white construction paper, child-safe scissors, glue, and a black marker.
How to Make a Paper Plate Bee
First, paint the front of the paper plate yellow and let it dry completely. Cut two or three black strips from construction paper and glue them horizontally across the plate to create the bee’s stripes.
Next, cut two wing shapes from light blue or white construction paper and glue one to each side of the plate. Cut two thin black antennae and attach them behind the top of the plate.
Finish the bee by adding paper eyes or drawing the eyes and a friendly smile with a black marker.
While children work, reinforce the letter connection by asking, “What letter does bee begin with?” You can even write a large B on a scrap of paper and keep it beside the craft as a visual reminder.
