Free Rainbow Worksheets for Preschoolers

Sharing is caring!

If you are looking for engaging rainbow worksheets for preschoolers, you are in the right place. I created these rainbow worksheets to help little learners practice early literacy, math, fine motor skills, and pattern recognition in a fun and colorful way. When my children were younger, I loved using themed worksheets to keep learning exciting and hands-on. Rainbows were always a favorite because they naturally spark curiosity about colors, weather, and God’s beautiful creation.

These free rainbow worksheets are perfect for preschool at home, in the classroom, or as a quiet-time activity that still builds important skills.

Why Rainbow Worksheets Are Great for Preschoolers

Rainbow Coloring Worksheet

When I used themed worksheets in our homeschool days, I noticed how much easier it was to hold attention when everything tied together. A rainbow theme naturally connects to:

  • Color recognition
  • Weather discussions
  • Spring units
  • Bible lessons about God’s promises
  • Science lessons about light and water

Rainbow worksheets also allow children to practice curved line tracing, which is especially helpful before moving into full letter writing.

Free Rainbow Worksheet for Preschoolers

You can use these rainbow worksheets during a weather unit, a spring theme week, or as part of your letter R lessons. I often rotated worksheets over several days rather than doing them all at once. This helped prevent overwhelm and kept learning fresh and exciting.

These pages also work well for:

  • Independent practice
  • Small group instruction
  • Quiet time activities

Books to Pair with Rainbow Worksheets

Adding picture books makes learning even more meaningful. Here are a few wonderful books you can pair with your rainbow worksheets:

Rainbow Paper Craft

This rainbow paper craft pairs perfectly with the rainbow worksheets in this post. I created a rainbow template that includes a cheerful sun, a smiling cloud, and separate rainbow pieces that children color and assemble. It is a simple, hands-on activity that reinforces color order, cutting skills, and fine motor skills.

Materials:

  • Rainbow sun and cloud template (download in the free rainbow worksheets section above)
  • Cotton balls
  • Construction paper
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Crayons or markers

Have children begin by coloring the smiling sun, cloud, and each rainbow strip using crayons or markers. Encourage them to color the rainbow pieces in traditional rainbow order for an added learning moment.

Next, carefully cut out the smiling sun with cloud, and rainbow strips. Finally, paste the colored rainbow strips to the bottom of the cloud to create a bright rainbow flowing underneath. For an extra touch, glue cotton balls onto the cloud to give it a soft, fluffy look. Mount the finished craft onto construction paper for a sturdy display piece.

This rainbow craft makes a beautiful bulletin board display during a spring or weather unit and ties in perfectly with the rainbow worksheets included in this post.
