Now, let’s talk about the tool that will bring it all together. Our free printable summer reading logs are the perfect companion to help kids enjoy and stay on top of their reading this summer.
Design and Features
I’ve created a set of six free Spring Reading Logs to make this reading adventure even more fun.
The first option is a “Color one item for every book read”. You must color one beach ball for every book read. This reading log is perfect for younger readers who are just starting to learn how to count.
The second option is a The second option is a “Color one item for every number of minutes read”. You must color one beach ball for every designated amount of minutes read. This reading log is perfect for older readers who are more advanced and want to challenge themselves.
Third, is a reading log bookshelf coloring page. This option has a cute summer bookshelf with summer images that you can color in for every book completed.
Next, are calendar logs for June, July, and August that allows kids to color in every day that they read. These logs are perfect for tracking progress and celebrating reading achievements!
I have included a standard reading log that allows children to record the date, title/author, and mins read of each book read. This log can be used for any time of the year.
Lastly, there is a 100 book challenge log that challenges readers to complete 100 books, pages, or whatever you decide in the summer season. This is a great way to motivate and encourage reading habits.
In addition to keeping track of reading progress, it is important to also promote critical thinking and comprehension skills while reading. Encourage children to reflect on what they have read by asking open-ended questions such as “What was your favorite part?” or “Why do you think the character made that decision?”. These types of questions not only improve comprehension but also keep children engaged in the story.
How to Use the Summer Reading Log
