How to Get Organized in 2022

As a mother, you probably have a lot going on in your life. Between work, family commitments, and everything else, it can be hard to keep track of everything. It’s important not only to make goals but also to give yourself the tools to help you achieve them! Here are some tips for the New Year that will help you feel more organized and productive in 2022!

Prioritize

One of the best ways to stay organized is to prioritize your time. This means that you should figure out what’s most important to you and what can wait. You can then block out time on your calendar for those important tasks. This will help you to stay on track and avoid procrastination.

Another way to block out time is by setting a timer. This can help you stay focused on a task and not get distracted. For example, if you want to work on a project for two hours, set a timer for two hours and start working! When the timer goes off, take a break! You can then set the timer for another hour if you want to keep working.

A device like an Amazon Echo would be great for a task such as this because you can have Alexa set a timer for you. I use my Echo to set different reminders throughout the day.

Take tiny little steps

One of the biggest challenges we face as humans is trying to be perfect. We feel like we can never be perfect, and that’s okay! But if you cast a high bar for yourself all the time, it’ll be even harder to stay organized and productive.

Instead, make it easier on yourself! Set attainable goals and celebrate your victories. Sometimes, all it takes to win the battle is getting started. If you want to be organized in 2022, take tiny steps toward your goal each day!

For example, if you want to clean out your closet, start by sorting through one shirt or pair of pants a day. You’ll feel accomplished and motivated to keep going!

Purge the mental clutter

Mental distractions and stress can take up a lot of your time without you even realizing it. One way to remedy this is by keeping a journal or planner that focuses on what’s happening now. This way, you’ll know exactly what you were doing five minutes ago and not get distracted.

Another tip for purging mental clutter is to prepare for tomorrow in the evening. If you invest just an hour or two in planning out your next day, you won’t have to worry about wasting time in the morning rushing around and getting dressed!

Decide what you want to achieve this year

Figure out what your goals are for this year. This could be something as simple as being more productive at work, or something more complex like reading your favorite book for the tenth time. Once you have decided what you want to achieve this year and make a plan on how to get there.

For example, if your goal is to read 50 books this year, make sure to set aside some time each day to read!

Set smaller, daily goals

Similar to taking tiny little steps, make sure to set small goals for yourself each day! This will help you stay organized and on track to achieving bigger goals, like getting more exercise or making healthy choices. For example, if your goal is to work out every morning before work, start by setting a goal to get up 20 minutes earlier than you usually do. Once that’s a habit, then move on to your goal of actually working out!

Avoid distractions

There are lots of different ways we can be distracted throughout the day without even realizing it! One way you can avoid distractions is by turning off all unnecessary notifications and alerts on your phone and computer. This way, you won’t be distracted by every text message and email.

Another great tip for avoiding distractions is to ignore your phone when you’re hanging out with friends or watching TV. If you limit yourself to only checking it once an hour, this will make it easier to not be constantly logged on to Facebook or Twitter.

Figure out what works best for you

Everyone has different methods for staying organized and productive. If one thing isn’t working, try something else! This could be anything from using an app that reminds you to get up and stretch every hour to wearing headphones while you work so you can’t hear other people around you. The most important thing is to figure out what works best for you so you can stay organized!

Celebrate your victories

If you accomplish something simple each day, like remembering to send your mom a birthday card or drinking 8 glasses of water, reward yourself! If you’re trying to be more productive in 2022, celebrate by setting aside an hour at the end of every week to do whatever you want. You’ve earned it!

If you want to be more organized and productive in 2022, start today! Start with something simple and easy, like making your bed or taking out the trash. Once that’s a habit, move on to bigger goals! The most important thing is to not get overwhelmed and make sure to celebrate every victory along the way.
