The Power of Routine in Alleviating Stress

Stress can seemingly come out of nowhere, and it’s hard to predict. This is because stress isn’t an exterior application that comes to us, but rather our body’s response to that external stimuli. For this reason, it’s important to focus on living our healthiest, most nutritionally dense, and well-rested lifestyle we can in order to mediate and deal with stressful situations. This can help our bodies and brains process stress, and for us to deal with the associated cortisol correctly.

Of course, as none of us can really understand or measure just how stressed we may be (and sometimes we may be so stressed that this feels like the new normal), it’s not always easy to predict how we can move forward and what that means. This is why it can be important to apply the power of routine to our daily and weekly schedules, in order to stress-bust by making bigger decisions as a macro-choice rather than a set of micro-choices. With that in mind, let’s consider some of the following advice, and see how you can apply it:

Setting The Best Sleep Hygiene Measures

Setting the best sleep hygiene measures will not only help you alleviate stress but help with your broader mental health in general. What this means is that over time, you will feel more confident, more able, and more collected if you make sure your sleep hygiene is aided by a good sleep routine.

This means going to bed as close to the same time as you can each night, as well as waking up at the same time, too. This sets your circadian rhythm, and that helps you get deeper sleep, as well as wake up feeling more rested. Make sure the room is well ventilated, and that you’re not too compressed by your covers. In this way, you can remain a great sleeper, which helps dissolve stress as necessary.

Morning Meditation

Morning meditation is worth considering and can make a tremendous difference in terms of how you set up your day. Even a ten-minute morning session can help dissolve the leftover stress of the prior day and night and move forward with something of a blank slate.

Eating At Regular Times

Eating at regular times ensures you keep a steady metabolic rhythm, and this can help you remain energized when you need it, and also have time to eat good nutrition, well-prepared for. It’s also important to consider the content of what you eat and do your best to remove the unhappy elements therein.

This might involve cutting down your sugar (which can contribute to heightened stress levels) mediate your caffeine intake (perhaps drinking matcha instead of coffee), and timing your meals around your hobbies and works so that you don’t feel lethargic and unable to keep up, which contributes to stress too.

With this advice, we hope you can implement the true power of routine in alleviating stress.
